Updates to Curriculum as per National Standards and needs of Industry

A recent press release specified that AIOU is being significantly disrupted in the main space of curriculum change, ensuring all academic programs are in line with prevailing knowledge. You may note, existing courses will be revised and new courses will be derived/opened. At last faculty meeting, Dr Sahir reiterated that the course changes will conform HEC policies, so as to assure credibility and integrity. The change also reflects AIOU’s vision of education, as to provided by the Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Nasir Mahmood – to develop quality education through Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and campus-based systems.

Significantly, the acceptance that Fahm-ul-Quran and Seerat-un-Nabi courses would be integrated into all degree programs, as stipulated by the government, is one acknowledgment of the position of AIOU to develop students with academic skill as well as moral and cultural values. Furthermore, in the near future, AIOU has a commitment to embracing regional and national languages into curriculum, as to conserve the broad spectrum of rich linguistics heritage in the nation. This cultural value will fulfill both education and social development objectives.

Governance, Quality Assurance, and Student-Centered Reforms

In a significant step towards improving academic governance, Dr Munir Khattak has proposed the Undergraduate Rules, Regulations, and Procedures (URRP) 2025 with a student-first mindset with the objective of offering comparatively equal academic experience for ODL and on-campus student, strongly supported by the faculty to the extent that they have to ensure their respect for academic governance and quality assurance by ensuring that all programs meet required credit hours, HEC policies and quality assurance measures before submitting to the Academic Council.

Thereafter all recommendations of Faculty Board will be sent to the Academic and Executive Council for formal approval, which is a great success in AIOU institutional reforms. A structured approach ensures all AIOU new BS programs and other updates go through a stringent vetting stage before implementation. By maintaining academic integrity through innovation, AIOU continues to take the lead in higher education to allow more inclusivity, relevance and relevance impacts in all schools and colleges across Pakistan.
