What is the Faculty Development Programme for Pakistani Universities?

The Faculty Development Programme (FDP) is an initiative by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan. It aims to support faculty members of public universities in completing their PhD degrees at HEC-recognized Pakistani universities/DAIs. Selected candidates will also get the chance to conduct research at a reputed foreign university for one year.

Eligibility Criteria – Who Can Apply?

To apply for the Faculty Development Programme for Pakistani Universities, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Nationality: Must be a Pakistani/AJK national.
• Educational Qualification: Must have an MS/MPhil (18 years of education).
• Age Limit: Maximum age is 45 years at the time of application submission.
• Employment Status: Must be a full-time, regular university faculty member at a
• public sector university/DAI in Pakistan or AJK.
• Teaching Experience: Must have at least two years of consecutive teaching experience in the parent institution.
• Academic Performance: At least 60% marks or 3.0 CGPA out of 4.0 in the final degree. No third division/D grade in the entire academic career.
• Entry Test Requirement: Must have a minimum 60% score in HAT/GRE General Test (valid between May 2023 – May 2025).

❌ Who is NOT Eligible?

• Faculty members already enrolled in a PhD before Spring 2024.
• Candidates availing another HEC/Government/University scholarship.
• Visiting/adjunct faculty members.

How to Apply for the Faculty Development Programme?

Applying for the Faculty Development Programme for Pakistani Universities (Batch-IV) is simple and online. Follow these steps:

2️⃣ Fill out the online application (No hard copy required at this stage).
3️⃣ Deposit Rs. 1000 as an application processing fee via 1Link 1Bill Invoice (Bank/ATM/Mobile Banking).
4️⃣ Verify your payment online through the application form.
5️⃣ Submit the application before the deadline. (Saved or incomplete applications will not be considered).

Selection Process & Important Notes

✔ Selection will be based on:

• Academic Merit (Evaluated via the Academic Evaluation Formula).
• HEC Aptitude Test Performance.
• Interview by Subject Experts.

2. Awardees must secure PhD admission in an HEC-recognized university (non-parent university) that has an MoU with a reputed foreign university.
3. Selection of the discipline will be based on the needs of the higher education sector.
4. Any error or omission in the application may lead to cancellation of the scholarship.
